KEEPING OUR CHILDREN SAFE!

I wanted to share a few additional resources that may help protect your child, as well as give you information about how to become more proactive concerning the safety of other children. Take a quick peek at the tips below and as always I welcome comments, concerns and any other information you may have that would be helpful to other moms.

Family Watchdog

  • This is a great resource for pinpointing exactly where local sex offenders are in relation to YOUR CHILDREN. Simply log onto the site, once there you can search by location (entering your address) or by name (possibly someone you’d like to check up on). Then you will be shown various colored blocks, which represent the sex offender. From here click on the block and you will be given a picture, description, and conviction of the offender. This site is one of many, but this one is free. There are several other sites out there that may be a bit more detailed, but I have found this one to be helpful.

National Center for Missing and Exploited Children

  • We’ve all seen the “Have You Seen This Child?” posters…this is the organization behind them. Log on here and you will find ways you can help the center, various topics of interest, and tips to keep your child safe. I signed up for the Poster Partner Program which is just one of a handful of ways you could get involved. Basically I receive daily e-mails when a child in my area becomes missing. I then have an opportunity to print posters to hang locally. Not only do I receive a message when a child is missing, but when a child is found as well! Check out this site if you want more information.

I would love to hear from you! E-mail me with questions, concerns, or to receive more information about the topics above. Let’s keep our children safe, TOGETHER!
