The B-Day Approaches…

That’s right my little walking baby girl is about to be 1 in just a few days.  I have to say I am looking forward to her party, but not looking forward to her age. There is a bit of a sense of dread when I consider that very soon when people come up to me and ask “OH, how old is your daughter?” (and yes they will finally be able to tell she is a girl because she FINALLY has enough hair to start sporting bows!) Instead of telling them her age in months, it will forever be in years.

I feel as though this first year has absolutely flown by!  Can you relate?  It seems like just yesterday we were bringing her home from the hospital (which took FOREVER because we couldn’t figure out how to strap our kid in her car seat…and yet they let us leave with her!)  We’ve been through the blob stage when I was so anxious to get a smile out of her, a laugh, anything!  Then she discovered her fingers and toes, such a magical time!  Not long after that it was crawling, which turned to pulling up which has now quickly progressed to well…let face it, a full on sprint!  All in a year.  And so as I am busying myself with party decorations and last minute details I am also reflecting on this past year with such gratitude.  That I have been so fortunate to live life with such an amazing little lady.

What was your child’s first B-Day experience like?  I am curious to know if I am the only one feeling a little sad!  I would welcome advice, stories and perhaps a little sympathy!

Our Little Man’s first birthday was overwhelming to me! We had his party a few days before his actual birthday since all our family was out of town, and we wanted them to come. I loved preparing for the party! But when the time finally came, I felt s overwhelmed with the fact that Little Man was already a year old, all that had happened in that first year, and all the love that was showered on all three of us, that I had a hard time focusing on conversations with our wonderful friends and family.
And now, he’s almost 3! Enjoy every moment! Hope we get to see pics from the big day!

Emma’s first birthday was busy, but sooo much fun. Yes, I was sad too, but I was also so excited to think about all the incredible new things that she would be doing in the next year. She had fun at her parties, and never missed a beat.
This next year for you is going to bring on some amazing challenges and new milestones. I can’t wait to hear all about them. So, yeah, I think you should be a bit sad that she will no longer be aged in months, but let’s face it, even when they’re 90, they’ll still be our babies!!!! Love you guys! Wish we could be there this weekend!

Oh, I still want the chalkboard. Does this count as another entry? Just joking!
