Weekends used to be for relaxing, but here lately my weekends consist of playing catch up! First of all, let me fill you in on my Yard Sale. It went really well, people paid us real money for our junk! My goal was to make enough to put gas in the car for our beach trip in a few weeks and we succeeded. I even sold the cute brown clogs!

What is on the agenda for the rest of my day?

  • #1 is getting the recipes up for all of you! I made each recipe last week and took pictures of the finished product. I know you are really going to enjoy these easy to prepare meals.
  • #2 is cleaning out my kitchen cabinets…that’s right, we don’t just write about stuff for the fun of it! Aimee and I are actually going a long side you, putting our own advice to work.
  • #3 taking the rest of my junk (I mean perfectly good stuff) left over from the Yard Sale to charity.

I could go on and on…as I am sure you could too! What do you have in store this weekend? Are you working on cleaning up the kitchen? Preparing your menus for next week? Or maybe going through your bills so that you are prepared for our BIG money saving tips next week? Or maybe you are the lucky one that already made it to the beach! Let me know what you have going on at candice@mommywho.com

It’s that time of year again…Yard Sale season has arrived!  Time to get all the junk out of my house, throw it on my front lawn and pray that someone gives me money so I can go to the beach this summer.  I’ve got everything from baby clothes (ones that I thought looked silly on my child) to pocket books, stickers to gift bags, shoes to stuffed animals.  Any and everything an avid yard sale goer could be looking for.   So wish me luck…it starts tomorrow.  Hey, you can even stop by if you’d like.  I can give you a GREAT deal on a pair of brown clogs (size 7)!

Do you have any yard sale secrets or great finds that you have purchased on someone else’s lawn?  Let me know about it at candice@mommywho.com

Sitting here, drumming my fingers, my mind is void of cohesive thought. I want desperately to write something creative and witty. Something that will lighten your day, but the only thing I can think about is the pile of laundry sitting on my couch, the sticky stuff on my kitchen floor, the gazillion phone calls that have yet to be made, and the mountain of paperwork I’ve actually nicknamed Everest. All these thoughts are humming along to the tune of superman’s (3 yr. old) galliant victory over the evil lord ’lisha bear (1 yr. old). Lord lisha’s screams have snapped me back.

Instead, I will give you a list of reminders. I believe us mom’s live on lists.

That’s right! All you mom’s out there who’ve been sending us ideas, stories, and comments… YOU ROCK! We have loved hearing from all of you, and will start adding some of those ideas to the site!

For the rest of you reluctant ones, we’ve decided to put a little incentive out there.

First of all, we can’t do this alone. WE NEED YOUR HELP! And to spice up the pot a little, we are holding a little contest.

    HOW IT WORKS:

    1. Each time you send us an idea, comment, ANYTHING, we’ll add your name to a drawing. (Your name can be added as many times as you send us stuff!)

    2. For each mom you tell about our site, we’ll add your name that many times to the drawing. Okay, so how will we track that?  Well, the honor system, of course. Just send us an e-mail listing the names of mom’s you told about our site, and we’ll enter your name that many times to the drawing.

    START SENDING! ideas@mommywho.com

    Girls Night Out!
    icon1 Candice | icon2 All About Us | icon4 05 25th, 2008| icon31 Comment »

That’s right!  My first “Girls Night Out” in what has seemed like forever.  My husband was out of town on a camping trip this weekend…so I thought I would schedule a babysitter (my parents) and get out of the house myself.  Wow!  You really don’t know what you are missing.  Lately my days have seemed to drag by, my energy has been down and I’ve felt just plain worn out.  Can you relate?  It is amazing what a few hours out on the town will do for your spirits!  (By “out on the town” I mean we went out to eat then walked around a shopping center wondering what we should do…sometimes it is hard knowing what to do with all that freedom!)  So we enjoyed our dinner, kid and husband free.  We went window shopping, trying on sunglasses, shoes, and admiring those oh so tiny sexy underwear we used to sport…then shared stories of the more practical and comfortable undies we currently enjoy.  (How times have changed!)  No having to lug a car seat, carry a diaper bag, or worry about keeping our kids occupied was so nice!  Don’t get me wrong, I adore my baby girl and love spending time with her, but I had to make time for myself and it couldn’t have come any sooner.  Thanks Kim and Ronna for a great night filled with lots of laughs…I needed it!

When was your last night out?  Share your own “freedom stories” with me at  candice@mommywho.com.  If you haven’t been out in a while, you owe it to yourself!  Make sure you are, at the very least, going out once a month for some “me” time.  Go ahead and schedule an afternoon or night for yourself…and enjoy doing whatever YOU want to do!  Right now…go on…if you don’t schedule it now you know it won’t happen!

    True Stories
    icon1 Candice | icon2 All About Us | icon4 05 24th, 2008| icon3No Comments »

We’ve had several of you mommies tell us you would like to write something for the site, but aren’t good with words or you don’t know what to say.  First of all that’s not true!  Secondly, you can just send us your ideas and we will “spruce things up” if you are a little less confident.  We will help you with the wording if you will help us with the ideas!  Just yesterday I was talking to my big sis about the website.  She had some GREAT ideas for a Going Green article.  (I of course told her to e-mail them to me, as my brain doesn’t work as well as it used to.)  We trust your judgment and want your input.

After all we are just two mommies writing about OUR own experiences…we aren’t making this stuff up people.  (Although sometimes I wish telling you that there is still a foul odor coming from my car was made up…yeah, still haven’t unearthed the culprit.)  Telling you my to do list today consists of the same things as yesterday, that I haven’t taken a shower yet (it’s 11:30), that I have changed 4 diapers since my day started at 5:00 am this morning, and that I was tempted to watch a Steve Martin movie at 9:00 am this morning…all this is TRUE!  That’s my weekend so far.  How is yours going?  How about this, e-mail me your weekend goals today, then e-mail me on Monday and tell me what you REALLY got done!  (If you achieved everything on your list…we need to talk, and I need some strategies!)  Off to take a shower…or did I just hear my little one wake up from her nap…there’s always tomorrow.

    IT’S COMING!!!
    icon1 Aimee | icon2 All About Us | icon4 05 23rd, 2008| icon31 Comment »

I know, I promised that yesterday you would find ALL NEW, blah blah blah…

Well, in true “mommy fashion” my little guy (15 month old) had his first ever bout with the stomach bug. We were up all night Wed.-Thur., and of course, spent super-duper amounts of cuddle time together yesterday.

He’s better. And NOW, I’ll be updating all the links! Bear with me! And keep checking back!

Also, pass the word around about MommyWho.com! The more mom’s who regularly frequent the site, the more ammunition we have to get those companies to offer us mom’s better bargains and safer products!

SO PLEASE! Send us comments, ideas, ANYTHING! You don’t have to be a “writer”,  just a mom with a dream!

    Thanks!!

    My Pocket Book
    icon1 Candice | icon2 All About Us | icon4 05 22nd, 2008| icon31 Comment »

Question:  Why is it I can never find anything in my pocket book?  I dig, and dig, shake it to listen for my keys rattling…nothing but junk!  Frustrated by this reoccurring problem I decided to clean out my pocket book.  What did I find…a receipt from 2007, 5 hair clips, 4 paper clips, an empty gum package, ten dollars (Wa Hoo!), an empty hairspray bottle, a packet of crushed red pepper (I carry it with me for my husband just in case we get to a resturant or we are eating at someones house and they don’t have crushed red pepper…he puts it on EVERYTHING!), oh and my chap stick…still no keys!  Despite all the junk I manage to carry around in my purse there is one item I can’t live with out…Palmer’s Cocoa Butter Dark Chocolate & Cherry Lip Butter.  Even if I don’t have my keys or my license I know my lips will be shiney and moisturized!  So, I am interested, what is the most random item you have in your purse right now?  Let me know at candice@mommywho.com

This product is a must have in my purse!  I love Palmer’s Cocoa Butter Dark Chocolate & Cherry Lip Butter!  This Lip Butter leaves my lips moisturized and adds some shine too.  Who wouldn’t want to put a little Chocolate and Cherry goodness on their lips.

Don’t forget to check out our WE LOVE page.  We recently had a faithful Mommy Who supporter tell us what she finds irresistible, follow our link to see what she loves.
